Petroglyphs and pictographs have been dated as far back as 2,000 years ago. Cultures after culture, group after group leaving marks and messages on the stone walls of canyons. Each image can be categorized into one or more of three categories; Human-like, Animal-like, or Abstract. These are physical descriptions of rock art that help develop an understanding of possible meaning.
